Smothered is an experimental short film that explores themes of environmental decline, parenthood, and bewilderment in life. It delves into the thoughts of a man in a relentless descent into psychosis. As he grapples with life-altering news, his reality fractures and he must fight back to stay sane.

This is the second film by Irish writer and director Patrick O'Mahoney after his first outing "A Course In Miracles." His style blends emotional storytelling with theatrical drama to craft character-driven narratives that explore the complexities of life.
O'Mahoney wrote "Smothered" during the pandemic, drawing from personal struggles regarding his collapsing relationship, concerns about humanity's impact on Earth, and his future. Societal pressure to enter the next phase in life clashed with his uncertainties and desires. This internal turmoil culminated in the catharsis that is "Smothered," written in a single raw draft, free of judgement.
