Mountains, Molehills & the Desperate Clinton Campaign

February 18th, 2008 · No Comments

This is exactly the kind of petulant and shallow rubbish one expects in a campaign involving Bill and Hillary Clinton. Yet their straight-faced nerve never ceases to amaze. Finding themselves on the wrong side of momentum and facing the mutiny of Democrat bigwigs, the Clinton campaign is leveling an absurdly disingenuous attack on Barack Obama’s credibility: plagiarizism.

Speaking at a campaign event in Wisconsin on February 17th, Mr. Obama rebutted Mrs. Clinton’s recent charges that his speeches are “just words” devoid of substance. The hubbub surrounds the text and concept of Obama’s speach which closely mirror a speech made in 2006 by Deval Patrick, the current governor of Massachusetts. Watch a comparison of the two speeches HERE or below:

Naturally the Clintons are trying to introduce as much blood into the water as possible, calling Obama a thief and trying desperately to sully his name and reputation. The problem, of course, is that the charges are preposterous.

Governor Patrick is in fact a close friend and supporter of Obama who, along with Senators Kennedy and Kerry, spurned Clinton to endorse Obama. Obama’s chief strategist, David Axelrod, also advised Patrick in 2006 and both acknowledges and defends the two politicians openness to sharing ideas. Moreover, Patrick himself gave Obama leave to use the slogans without reference or credit.

Since the charges the Clintons level against Obama are virtually identical to the tact taken by Patrick’s rival in 2006, it only makes sense that the two would share notes. These are political sound-bytes we’re talking about here, not a Pulitzer-nominated novel or proprietary software codes.

This is what the Clinton’s do and it’s hideous. They will do ANYTHING to get elected and they do not care what damage they cause to their party or the country along the way. The Clinton’s don’t want to govern so much as they want to be in power.

In the beginning of The War Room, D.A. Pennebaker’s documentary on the ’92 Clinton campaign, James Carville says to a room full of staff: “If we can win this, we can knock this sh** back forever”. What are the chances that an Obama win would knock the Clintons’ nonsense back forever? That would be nice.
