Country star Vince Gill, upon receiving the Grammy for Best Country Album from Ringo Starr, took a long pause and then, gazing across to where Kanye West was sitting, said:  “I just got an award given to me by a Beatle………………have you had that happen yet, Kanye?”

Best Performance – dueling pianos of Herbie Hancock and Chinese classic pianist Lang Lang, with full orchestral support, performing Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue”.
Runner-up: Frank Sinatra’s half of the opening duet with Alicia Keyes.

Biggest Surpise – said Hancock winning Album of the Year, thus legitmaizing for all time Tommy Boy Callahan’s college degree (JOHN Hancock…..it’s HERBIE HANCOCK!!).
Runner-up: Amy Whinehouse makes it through entire live performance without passing out, shooting heroin, or being arrested

Greatest Degradation Of Dignity – Tina Turner’s outfit
Runner-up: Tina Turner’s performance

Saddest Moment – Jerry Lee Lewis looking totally out of it

Biggest Disappointment – The Beatles “Love” Cirque du Soleil rendition (the VW bug was cool but the rest came off awkwardly).

Most Uplifting – ‘Across The Universe’ choir on “Let It Be”; if it weren’t written by Sir Paul I might suggest the song was meant for a Gospel Choir.
